Project Details
Project Background:

The school provides education for 245 children coming from the village and the surroundings. The students are divided in 6 classes out of which, 3 are hosted in proper classrooms and the other 3 are hosted in precarious shelters while exposed to climatic conditions. The first class, for the 6 years old kids, counts approximately 85 students managed by a single teacher.

Project Description:

The school extension project consists in the construction of a new building which will host 2 new classrooms. The foundations will also be prepared for a 3rd classroom for when the budget will allow.

Our partners:
Our partners on this project are the two sister NGOs, Amitié Brie Benin (ABB) and its sister in Benin, Association d'Action pour le Développement Rural (AADR).
ABB and AADR have already demonstrated solid project management skills in Benin with several exemplar achievements in the village of Tori.
In 2009, they started the construction of a farm which now provides a living to several families. Another noteworthy achievement was when, a few years later, they helped in the construction of a water well and a water tank to provide potable water to the local population, which has improved the health situation in the village. Now, with a well fed and healthy population, what would be better to prepare for and safeguard the future than extending the existing overcrowded school? This is the latest Amitié Brie Benin project, and this is where inPact has decided to get off the sidelines and support a worthy development project for the first time.
Project Impact:

The project aims at providing a better learning environments for the children in Tori. With the new classes built in a proper building, the lessons can be held by any weather condition.
With the better conditions provided by the school extension, you will give the children better chances to succeed at school and therefore, open them opportunities for a better future.
